Earphone and headphone safety

Phone manufacturers advise that to reduce exposure to microwave radiation from wirless devices - phones, laptops or tablets - you should use corded earphones.

Are they right?

Increased Exposure

Using corded earphones provides a direct link between an EMF emitting device, such as your phone, and your head.
Independent testing by the UK Consumer Association demonstrated that exposure can be increased by up to 300% if corded earphones were used.

Wireless Headphones

Wireless headphones use Bluetooth to communicate with an audio source, such as your phone.
Bluetooth technology uses microwave so you are placing a microwave transmitter against your head, close to your brain.

Wireless Earbuds

Earbuds use microwave to communicate with your phone and with each other.  One is the 'master' the other is the 'slave'.
The master earbud communicates with the slave earbud by passing microwave through the head.

What is the evidence?

Mobirise

Independent tests and evidence from experts points at increased exposure, which you can find links to below.  However, common sense indicates it is probably unwise to link your head to a microwave transmitter, or place a microwave emitting device next to your head.

Expert opinion

You can reduce your exposure to EMF / microwave radiation by using your wireless device as far away from you as possible.

Or use Cool Call with your corded earphones and headphones.

Cool Call even improves the audio quality of your headphones.
